I say, go for it, and let us know in comments how it works for you. The price is very, very right, and the app fixes a lot of the weaknesses in the Magic Mouse. ![]() The developer says the app will eventually wind up as a preference pane, and that it will always remain free. If yours was a dog with your Apple hardware, this app may fix all that. When I have an object selected and I want to zoom in an. I downloaded this and it worked to speed up the Mighty Mouse. Within my mouse constraints, Ive set up my Apple Magic Mouse to zoom when the option key is pressed (otherwise it pans). I was getting fed up with how slow the tracking is in the system preferences>mouse. For people who have a Magic Mouse that works great, you will love the power of this app. Ive read through many post, but Ive yet to find the answer to my exact question. Update: Turning down the sensitivity has helped. The default shortcut for Spotlight is +Space, if you changed it from the default use the one you assigned. Now on iOS there is magicprefs, which beautifully manages to give a middle click, but there is nothing like it on the windows platform. 2- Quit MagicPrefs by typing 'killall MagicPrefs' in Terminal.app and pressing return Additionally type 'defaults write noAutostart -bool YES' to manually prevent it from auto-starting on next boot. Let me clarify that I prefer to work on CAD programes in the windows emvironment via bootcamp. There is even a real time display on the app that lets you test different combinations of motions to see how they will work. Thank you, Matthew - Ive turned down the sensitivity, and shall see how I get on. Recently I purchased an iMac I have been trying to find a way to make the magic mouse emulate a middle click. Some of the gestures are a bit difficult and take some practice, and the app warns you which ones might be tricky. You can create, load and save presets as well. Pre-defined actions include control of Spaces, Dashboard, Expose, Quicklook and many others. Plugins are either bundled-in for free, can be downladed for free or come from paid applications in Mac App. They run under a shared plugins host process which translates into more control for the user and less processes. You can even define drag and pinch movements on the surface of the mouse. Plugins are modular components that can extend the functionality of MagicPrefs, they can be enabled or disabled individually. You can define two and three finger swipes for left, right, up and down. Also to one, two, three and four finger taps. This little utility allows you to assign actions to two, three and 4 finger clicks. This app goes way beyond fixing the tracking speed. MagicPrefs is a free utility that runs from your menu bar and fixes the problems some Mac Pros had with the Magic Mouse. I put the mouse on my shelf of forgotten tech until a friend told me about MagicPrefs. On my Mac Pro the tracking was erratic, slow, and pretty unusable. When I actually went to use it, however, it was a major downer. I was one of the many who was pretty excited when I heard about it and grabbed one the first week it was out. ![]() ![]() I set it up as a system Service so I can quickly run it with a hot key.We know the Magic Mouse is selling well. I’m going to assume at this point that you understand the basics of the event tap. AKA, making the magic mouse work the way it should have to begin with. My script actually does use MagicPrefs to disable scrolling. So my solution to the problem was to write an application to make it so the whole right half of the trackpad is recognized as a right click. It is no longer maintained, but it might work for. Thanks in advance for any thoughts on this. The application MagicPrefs used to do a good job in moderating the worst behaviour of the Magic Mouse. And of course it’s a different function than what After Effects does with scrolling, which is an equally frustrating, though more difficult to trigger, zooming in and out of the canvas. Would it programmatically be possible to tell Mocha AE not to react to mouse-scrolling? Does anyone actually use this feature? Seems like linking mouse scrolling and the timeline cursor would lead to pretty inaccurate movements. Then when I drag points on a mask around, with my finger slightly brushing against my Magic Mouse, the timeline cursor flies all over the place creating random keyframes. You’ll see 13 seconds into the video I disable my scrolling. For some reason I am STILL getting the scrolling. To deal with that, I’ve created a hot-key-activated AppleScript that will let me disable all scrolling when I’m using Mocha. Thanks for the quick response! Unfortunately MagicPrefs doesn’t let you link scrolling per-application, only the non-scrolling settings.
